Soy wax is derived from vegetable soybeans and is a sustainable crop. The only vegetable crop which is grown more frequently in the United States than soybeans is corn. This allows for soy to be readily available, and a local crop that supports local farmers. Soy candles burn longer, cleaner, and cooler than paraffin wax, which is the primary choice of commercial candle manufacturers, and is derived from crude oil, which is nonrenewable. Soy candles also burn for 30% to 50% longer than a paraffin candle and are easy to clean with soap and water.
Frosting is the white crystal coating you may see develop around the sides and/or top of the wax. Some people think it looks unpleasant, and while customers may think it is a poor quality candle, the presence of frosting actually shows that it is a 100% pure soy wax candle. Frosting is the natural soy wax returning to its natural form. As a result, the wax will begin to crystallize. This will not affect the performance of your candle in any way. Candles that claim to be soy but do not have frosting are typically blended with paraffin.

Candle burn times can be significantly increased by trimming your wicks to approximately 1/4 inch prior to lighting. All of our candles have been sized for wicks which have been trimmed. If the wick is not trimmed, the candle will burn substantially faster and may experience charring. We highly recommend that all of our customers purchase a wick trimmer or trim their wicks using an alternative method, such as a nail trimmer or scissor.
We encourage you to repurpose your jar into another usage and never throw away your candle! If you must throw away the jar please do so when there is approximately 1/4" of wax remaining in the bottom of your candle.
